Total time: 30 minutes
Ingredients for 8 people
6 sheets of puff pastry
12 slices of swiss cheese
6 slices of corned beef
2 cups of sauerkraut
12 potatoes
1/2 cup of sugar
sunflower oil
cajun seasoning
1 cup of cheese sauce
chives
Tools
Foil
Parchement paper
Round baking tin
Medium glass bowl
Skewers
Paper towels
Step 1/3
For the reubens: Place a piece of round puff pastry on parchment paper and make one cut halfway through the pastry. Place 1 slice of swiss cheese in 2 quarters of the circle. Put a slice of corned beef and sauerkraut in the remaining two quarters. Fold the puff pastry as seen in the video and repeat until you have made 6 sandwiches. Prepare the baking tin by placing a glass bowl and tinfoil around the bowl inside a round baking tin. Cut each sandwich in half and place them in the baking tin around the bowl. Bake 30 minutes at 350 °F.
Step 2/3
For the curly fries: Place 4 skewers into the end of a potato and through to the other side. Cut the potato into 4 wedges lengthwise. Carefully use a knife to make a spiral form. Repeat with all of the potato wedges. Pour sugar into the boiling water and cook the curly fries about 10 minutes. Remove from water and set in bowl. Then fry the curly fries in the hot oil using skewers as seen in the video. Repeat with all fries. Drain excess oil on a paper towel. Sprinkle and coat evenly with Cajun seasoning.
Step 3/3
Remove the reuben sandwiches from the oven and flip over onto a plate or baking sheet. Remove the bowl and tinfoil and return to oven to cook for 15 minutes at 350 °F. Remove from oven. Add the curly fries to the center and coat with warm cheese sauce. Sprinkle with chives and dig in!
