Ingredients for 6 people
4 1/2 cups of water
2 1/2 tsp of yeast
2 tbsp of brown sugar
1/2 tsp of salt
3 tbsp of baking soda
1 cup of cinnamon sugar
1 1/2 cups of whipped cream
1 can of condensed milk
1 cup of pretzels
1/2 cup of caramel sauce
1/2 cup of sugar
Butter
Tools
parchment paper
Ice cream scoop
Step 1/5
In a large bowl fold the whipped cream into the sweetened condensed milk. Spread into a large baking dish. Drizzle with caramel sauce and swirl the caramel into the cream. Sprinkle with ½ cup of pretzels then place in freezer.
Step 2/5
In a small bowl, combine 1½ cups of water, brown sugar and yeast. Let the yeast proof for 5 minutes until frothy. Pour into a large mixing bowl with the flour and salt. Stir to combine, then knead to get a smooth dough. Place into an oiled bowl and cover with a clean kitchen towel. Let the dough rise for about 45 minutes.
Step 3/5
Preheat the oven to 400°F. Punch down the dough and divide into 3 balls. Roll each ball into a long rope then twist to form a pretzel shape. In a large dish, stir together the warm water and the baking soda. Dip each pretzel, one at a time into the baking soda solution. Place onto a parchment line baking sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
Step 4/5
In a small saucepan, melt the sugar to make a caramel. Sprinkle a parchment line baking sheet with pretzels then pour the caramel over the top. Allow to cool then break into pieces.
Step 5/5
Remove the pretzels from the oven and brush them with melted butter. Toss the buttery pretzels in the cinnamon sugar and place each on a plate. Top with a big scoop of ice cream and add some crunchy pretzel caramel. Serve and enjoy!
